A drainage pipe (21) is provided between the baffle plate (15) and spacer cage (16). The pipe crosses the fuel pumping chamber at the lowest point. The pipe is secured by a union (23) on the space cage side and passes through the pump casing (1) to a dry chamber (4). The pipe is additionally sealed and secured by a suitable keeper (22). In order to enable the pump to be removed from its casing, the drainage pipe (21) is withdrawable.
