The hydrid transmission has a low output drive motor which runs at a set level. Surplus energy is stored in a flywheel, with the stored energy equal to the amount required to drive the vehicle at max. speed. The improved torque is taken to the driving wheels by a reduction gearing from the flywheel and by a hydraulic or electric link between the engine and the wheels. The hydraulic or electric link has a storage capacity of either a battery or a pressure reservoir so that it can also provide energy for sudden peak torque demands such as for starting up hills. The total weight of the transmission is reduced and simplified.
