摘要 <p>1529674 Heating and cooling yarns IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 9 Oct 1975 [18 Oct 1974 6 Nov 1974] 45206/74 and 47974/74 Heading D1F A yarn is heated or cooled by passing it through two substantially non-false-twisting and non-interlacing vortices in a direction along or parallel to the vortex axes, the vortices decaying freely in opposite co-axial directions from their point of generation to their escape into the atmosphere. Fluid is passed through ducts 12, Fig. 1A, into chamber 11 to form a vortex about yarn 15, the chamber, Fig. 1B, communicating with yarn entry and exit tubes 13, 14. The fluid may be gas or liquid, e.g. air, carbon dioxide, nitrogen or steam. One or more chambers may be used and tubes 13, 14 need not have the same diameter and may be of variable diameter. Alternatively, Fig. 2B, the vortex may be formed in tube 25 by fluid fed from chamber 22 in which a vortex is also generated. For cooling, chamber 22 may be surrounded by a water jacket. In examples, two devices as in Fig. 2B are used to heat and cool yarn in a simultaneous draw-false twist process using a friction bush. The heating and cooling of polyester and polyamide yarns is exemplified.</p>
