The press is for the construction of roof trusses, main beams, posts etc, using wooden planks glued together, and has a central lengthwise frame with lower plates accommodating the plank stacks, and running in the compression chambers from one end to the other. Clamping punches act vertically, and there are also horizontally-acting alignment devices working transversely inwards against the stacks. Each compression chamber (3, 4) has a mechanism receiving each incoming plank (15), also a number of pivoting components (12) at intervals along the press swinging clear of the chamber together. A lowering device (16) is situated below these components and receives each plank delivered, and this device can be lowered to a position forming the lower limit of the compression chamber. |
