Watertight seal for hatch cover - with sealing lips enclosing elastic ridge on hatch sill

The bottom edges of the hatch cover are fitted with elastic sealing lips (1) secured in a prepared groove under the edge. The lips enclose an elastic ridge (26) fitted to the hatch sill. The lips enclose the ridge on three sides with the main weight of the cover supported on the bottom edge to relieve wear on the seals. The hatch cover is free to flex and move in any direction without affecting the seal. The seal is relieved of wear by spreading the sealing force. The sealing lips are clipped into the groove by elastic tags and ridges (33) between the outer faces of the lips and the groove.
