Splicer - for cutting and butt jointing plastic film - using an adhesive u-shape tab

A splicer for photographic film or magnetic tape includes a platform on which the film is supported above a cutter mounted pref. on a carriage, and pref. a lid having a block to cooperate with the cutter and cut the film when the lid is lowered. A self adhesive tab is supported in pref. a flat state or pref. a pivotal frame which can be pivoted over to apply a part of the tab across the upper face of the abutting ends of the cut film, and pref. resiliently mounted presser elements press the tab against the edge of the film so that the free part of the tab is pressed below the film. A roller is then pref advanced to engage the free part of the tab and fold it over into a U-shape whereby it is applied to the under face of the film. A splice can be effected rapidly.
