Bed with headboard (6) adapts to various positions in use. Part of the head board (8) can pivot round an upper horizontal axis (9) from vertical up into a sloping position so that its bottom rim is nearer the foot of the bed than in the vertical position. The board can be locked (10) in one of the sloping positions. Pref. the swivel part (8) of the headboard (6) should be enclosed by a frame (7) surround, and should be supported by a rear leg (7'). Locking should be by rack and slide with linking arm to the swivel part and a locking pin to secure the board or release it from the fully raised position back to vertical.
