Water heating by solar energy using heat ray collectors and heat exchangers. A heat carrier circulates through a closed circuit to absorb heat from the collectors and give off part of the heat to the water in a first and smaller hot-water tank (2) by means of a first exchanger (20), followed by a second exchanger (30) in series with the first and through which the carrier gives up more heat to the water in a second and larger tank (3) also in series with the small front tank (2) whenever the carrier temp. at the collector outlet exceeds 50 deg.C. Otherwise, the first exchanger (20) is bypassed by a link line (17) to divert the carrier through the second exchanger and thence back along a return (19) to the collectors (1). Preferably the collector entry is lower than the bottom exchanger outlet, thus enabling the carrier to maintain its own flow. A valve (15) in a line (14) between collectors and exchangers (20, 30) should respond to the temp. in the bypass line (17). An additional exchanger (40) can be inserted between collector outlet and entry for use when carrier exit temperatures rise above 70 deg.C at the second collector outlet.
|
