Urea peroxide is stabilized by intimately mixing with it 0À02-20% by weight, based on the urea peroxide, of a chelating agent selected from ethylene-diamine tetraacetic acid, ethylene diaminetriacetic acid, 8-hydroxyquinoline, gluconic acid, or the alkali metal or alkaline earth metal salts of such chelating agents and 0À02- 20% by weight of an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal salt of pyrophosphoric acid, phosphoric acid or metaphosphoric acid. Absorbing agents, e.g. mannitol, infusorial earth or silica may also be added to the mixture preferably in an amount of 3-9% by weight based on the urea peroxide. |
