<p>The cpd. made by condensing 2-hydroxy-1-naphthaldehyde with benzidine-3,3'-dicarboxylic acid (7 h reflux in MeOH), is a red pigment of great solvent and light-fastness. It and its metallic cpds. (Groups IIa and IIb, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Pb, Mn, especially Pb, Zn, Cd and pref. Sr, Ca, Ba, Mn) whose colour varies from red to yellow, are useful in textile printing, paints, rubber, plastics and spin-dyeing.</p> |
