1351476 Phenolic resin foam DEUTSCHE TEXACO AG 19 April 1971 [17 April 1970] 26970/71 Headings C3C and C3R An aqueous, foamable phenolic resin composition comprises a phenol-aldehyde condensate, a waterglass in solution, a particulate mineral filler and an expanding agent, which may or may not be the filler. The waterglass is potassium and/or sodium silicate, the preferred resin is phenol-formaldehyde and the preferred filler is vermiculite. Pentane is the preferred blowing agent, and the foaming may be performed in a mould, preferably a parallelepiped. In the example an aqueous phenol-formaldehyde resole is mixed with sodium waterglass, pentane and vermiculite of specified size and the mixture cured with foaming by the addition of a solution of toluene sulphonic acid. |
