Reduction in surface oxidation of hot metal drosses - by placing in closed metal bell to reduce access of oxygen during cooling

Surface oxidn. is limited by a device preventing access of O2 that consists of a metal bell that can be moved vertically and open at the base, which has several metallic supports to rest in a water filled tray and mounting to fit in guide rails for vertical movement. A concrete base rests in the tray and supports a shallow vessel which holds the dross. The device is used for treatment of drosses removed from the surface of metal melts and improves metal recovery from the surface of metal melts and improves metal recovery from the dross.
