Sepg hydrogen sulphide from carbon dioxide - by dissolving in aq soln contg bicarbonate ion

H2S is preferentially removed from a gas mixt. of H2S by treating the gas mixt. with an aq. soln. contg. a sufficient concn. of HCO3- ion to establish an equilibrium imbalance preventing substantial dissolution of CO2 and pref. also contg. inert salts. The HCO3 ion reduces the solubility of CO2 the soln. and maintains the pH fairly constant. The soln. does not require monitoring.
