Aerial wire tension controller - has winding drum and counterweight at base of mast with drive to control swing

The multi mast transmission aerial system for tall masts, where the aerial cable passes over a roller on the top of the mast, includes a cable tension control system at the bottom of the mast. A counterweight is attached to the bottom of the cable and a winding drum (3) is supported on the weight. Alternatively, the winding gear itself may form the counterweight. The operation of the drum is controlled by switches (9, 10, 11) mounted on the guide face of the mast. The switches can operate an electric, pneumatic or hydraulic drive for the drum so that swing of the cable is reduced automatically to a minimum. A fan type brake (13) can be used on the cable. The switches are positioned for raising and lowering.
