<p>Press. vessel for storage of liquids and gases is of rectangular form with each wall constricted from a series of curved elements welded together along their edges. The axes of the elements in adjoining walls are rotated at 90 degrees to each other. The sides with the vertical profiles have flat edges to which the curved ends of the horizontally profiled sides are welded. Similarly the horizontal sides have a flat upper edge to which the curved profile of the lid is welded. This in turn has flat edges to which are welded the upper edges of the vertical profiles. The vessel has a flat base plate with T-shaped cross members. Tie rods run from these to the edges of the profiles in the lid. Vessel can be used in the storage under pressure of liqs. and gases. Although rectangular tanks represent a considerably saving in space compared with cylindrical or barrel shaped tanks, they are in many instances uneconomic because of the metal thickness required to withstand the internal pressure. This design allows the space advantage of rectangular vessels to be largely retained only using much light (and therefore cheaper) gauge plate.</p> |
