<p>Cushion or mattress for upholstered chair or couch comprises a resilient core with a coconut fibre substrate, surrounded on all sides by a bag of jute fibre or other fabric with its lower surface resting on a porous foam panel. A soft foam sheath e.g. polyurethane borders the foam panel, and encompasses all of the remainder of the outer surface of the jute fibre bag. In an example the jute fibre bag has specific wt. of 290 -365 g/m2 and the soft foam sheath becomes compressed with it or in it to provide an airtight, high-strength wear-resistant bag wall. Air displaced by compression of the cushion escapes through the coconut fibre substrate, the unfoamed bag portion and the porous foam panel which is bonded to the soft foam sheath at its edges only.</p> |
