<p>The workpiece grinder head turns about a shaft. It has a number of workpiece holders at equal spacings about the shaft. The holders can move along a curved path when the head is turned about its shaft. A grinding device close to the head has a grinding surface close to the path to engage a workpiece passing along the path. The head is rotated rapidly at first to move one of the workpiece holders and its workpiece quickly to a position closely adjacent to the grinder. A following period of relatively slow rotation is imparted to the head to move the workpiece into engagement with the grinding surface. The head is prevented from rotating when one of the workpieces is in a grinding position, until grinding is concluded. A final stage of relatively rapid rotation is then imparted to move the holder and the ground workpiece away from the grinding device.</p> |
