<p>The downpipe assembly is for the delivery of liquids to the base of a tank, particularly one transporting those such as phosphoric acid, which have to be kept agitated to avoid sedimentation. It comprises a vertical downpipe (23c) connected at the upper end to a pressure source, and with a discharge head (40) at the bottom immediately above the tank floor. The head has fixed guide faces (41a, 43a) directing the flow of liquid at a predetermined angle to a plane running in the lengthwise direction of the tank floor, so that the liquid has imparted to it a rotary movement coaxial to the pipe. The guide faces can run first in a curve from the vertical to the horizontal and then in one in the horizontal plane extending initially in the radial direction.</p> |
