The circular saw blade sharpening device, particularly for hard metal blades, comprises a blade holder in which the blade is brought into engagement with a driven grinding wheel via the drive for the sharpening unit advance. A drive is also provided for the saw blade advance. A common drive source (12) for the grinding wheel stroke and the saw blade advance is available. This is fitted on a movable slide (10) together with the holding device (19). This drive has a control cam arrangement (13, 14) arranged on the shaft of the drive source (12). These cams take the form of cam plates.
