Automatic fire protection system for rooms storing highly valuable documents, computer data, microfilms, etc. The room or safe compartment (1) is provided with one or several exhaust ductings arranged in a ring system fitted with a number of inlet openings (3). The ring system is connected to an exhaust fan or vacuum pump, and the air is discharged into the open by duct (6). A monitoring device consisting of a smoke detector (7) and a temp. detector (8) is fitted into the discharge duct (6) or into the suction duct (4). The wiring of the monitoring device is connected to a control box which according to the relevant signal received from the device triggers off the automatic fire extinguisher gear (10), such as a CO2 installation.
