<p>An emulsion of particle size 0.05-0.3 mu comprises, in an aq. medium, a phospholipid (I) as emulsifier; >=18-22C fatty acid (II), or its salts or monoglycerides, and 2H-tricosafluoro-3,6,9-trioxa-5,8-dimethyldodecane of formula C3F7O(C(CF3)F.CF2O)2CFH.CF3 (III). Pref. the aq. medium is an isotonic 2.5 wt. % aq. glycerine soln. The meulsions are useful as blood substitutes (O2-transport systems) and perfusion liquids for preserving organs. They are stable towards heat sterilisation; can be stored for a long time without agglomeration of the particles, and (III) has no damaging effect on organs or tissues. (III) can take up >=30 vol. % O2 and after use is exhaled and not accumulated in the liver or spleen.</p> |
