<p>Porous and/or granulated pyrotechnic compsn. contains a fuel and an O2-carrier. Fuel consists of polymeric and/or copolymeric cycloaliphatic and/or cycloaromatic hydrocarbons, (I), pref. having mol. wt. 600-1500. (I) may be polymeric cyclopentadienes and/or their copolymers with pentene, methyl-butene and isoprene. O2-carriers are esp. >=40% perchlorates. Pyrotechnic compsn. can be used as propellant powder, detonator for metal-contg. flare compsns., igniter powder for artillery ammunition and pyrotechnic effects. Less quantity of new propellant is needed compared to black powder to achieve same vertical height. Propellant causes no soiling of pistol on repeated firing. In an example, pyrotechnic compsn. contained 720 g 50% phenoplast worked into 400 g aliphatic hydrocarbon resin having mol. wt. 1500, 2880 g KClO4 and 40 g Cu2O as moderator.</p> |
