The electronic piano has a set of strings (4) stretched across the surface (10) with a cross member (E) underneath them, holding them up in tension. This member is U shaped in cross section, with its open mouth facing forwards. Inside the member is a series of piezo-electric discs (20). Underneath the member is a strip (30) of a acoustically insulating material. On the top face of one leg (17) forming the string support leg is a rod shaped rubber of plastics damper (40). The number of piezo-electric discs is less than the number of strings. In an alternative design, the damper is mounted on a swinging arm above and to the rear of the U shaped member, and can be raised or lowered above the stings.
|
