The cylinder-piston unit is in the form of a friction damper. The piston of the unit consists of two segments lined with friction material which are prized apart by means of a spring and conical rings and forced against the cylinder wall. The piston segments (18) are mounted on a piston shaft. The end faces of the segments are conical. A first conical ring (28) with the same cone angle as the segments is fixed to the end of the piston shaft. A second conical ring (27) lies against the other side of the segments, this ring can slide over the piston shaft. A spring (24) presses this ring against the segments. The spring consists of a stack of spring washers.
