Effervescent anhydrous sodium citrate and citric acid granulate - prepd. with water in fluidised bed granulator

Mixing ratio Na citrate: citric acid is 3:1 to 30:1 (esp. 5:1 to 17.5:1). Ratio water to mixt. is 1:1 to 4:1 (1:2). Air supplied to granulator is heated at 80-140 (120) degrees C. Granulation takes 40-240 (60-90) min. Granulate is used for prepn. of effervescing powders or tablets, esp. medicinal products, e.g. contg. acetyl salicylic acid. Fluidised bed layer granulation with water can take place in standard plant without explosion-protective devices. Fire- and explosion hazards in prepn. and storage rooms is prevented. Vacuum cupboard drying is obviated. Use of water prevents environmental pollution, e.g. by toxic solvent vapours. Water content of granulate is 0.05%. Prod. is highly porous.
