Pneumatic damper for car seat - with separate piston for independent height adjustment by tapping some of damper compressed gas

The seat shell is supported on a plinth, or support column by a special pneumatic damper filled with a compressed gas. The damper is linked to the support (14) by a coil spring around the damper. One end of the damper has a piston with a setting control to alter the damping w.r.t. the seat loading. The adjustment is possible with the driver sitting on the seat. The other end of the damper is linked to its support by a second piston whose control valve is operated by a control shaft linked to a cam lever. This alters the effective height of the damper, by tapping off some of the compressed gas and passing it to the other side of the piston. The height control is thus independent of the seat loading setting.
