The springy metal contact for a printed circuit connector is made from strip, which is cut and bent so that it fits into a stepped slot through the housing. This slot has a ridge across the front between which locate two raised parts (62, 63) of a tongue (6) at the top, to retain the contact with a snap action. The strip (3) narrows down, and is bent up (3c) followed by a horizontal portion (3b) from which extends the tongue (6) formed by a punched out narrower middle part. The remainder curves round abruptly, the return part (5) giving resilience for gripping the printed circuit panel. From the return part, another narrow tongue (60) is punched, bent upwards to support the first tongue. The tip (61) is curved over at the point of contact.
|
