<p>In an engine powered with a generator and a storage battery a vehicle having a refrigerated compartment with a refrigeration system having a cooling coil, a compressor connected to the cooling coil, a condensor connected to the compressor, an expansion valve or the like connected to the compressor and to the cooling coil an improvement in an embodiment having a second compressor connected in parallel with the first compressor and being operated by a direct current electric motor powered by the storage battery and in another embodiment having a direct current electric motor powered alternately by the storage battery or by a rectifier. The improvement has a control to operate the system relative to the refrigeration demand of the system.</p> |
