<p>1537580 Polyester moulding compositions CELANESE CORP 23 Sept 1976 [24 Sept 1975] 39523/76 Heading C3R A flame retardant moulding composition comprises (1) a reinforcing agent, (2) a Group Vb metal compound and (3) the reaction product of (a) a copolyester derived from iso- or terephthalic acid, a C 2-6 alkane diol and a bishydroxy C 2-6 alkyl ether of a halogenated bisphenol A and (b) a polycarbodiimide containing at least three carbodiimide groups and derived from an aromatic diisocyanate which is either unsubstituted or contains one methyl substituent on each aromatic ring. The composition preferably contains 0À25 to 5% by weight of polycarbodiimide, 30 to 80% by weight of copolyester, 15-60% by weight of reinforcing agent and 0À7 to 10% by weight of Group Vb metal compound. The examples describe compositions comprising a copolyester derived from 1,4- butanediol, dimethyl terephthalate and 2,2- bis(3,5 - dibromo - 4 - # - hydroxyethoxyphenyl)propane, poly(4,4<SP>1</SP>-diphenylmethane carbodiimide), glass fibres, antimony trioxide and optionally asbestos or a phenoxy resin.</p> |
