In a pump or motor comprising a revolving cylinder block 9 with pairs of pistons 12, 13 acting on cam plates 4, 5, a stationary valve plate 36 is mounted on a support 22 by sleeves 34, 35, there being two or more sleeves to the or each kidney port 41, 42 of the valve plate, so that through flow at high operating speeds is not restricted. In Fig. 3, kidney port 41 communicates with support passage 33 via branches 33a, 33b and sleeves 35. The sleeves may be fixed to either the support or the valve plate and slidable in the other, or may be slidable in both, sealing rings 40 being provided. The sleeves permit axial and slight tilting movement of the valve plate, and are dimensioned, with recesses 37, to provide a hydraulic force biassing the valve plate against the cylinder block. Spring means also may be used to bias the valve plate against the cylinder block. The valve plate may have only one kidney port, casing 1 then being connected to a lowpressure reservoir. |
