OPTICAL RECORDING MEDIUM

PURPOSE:To lower a required recording power and to allow the formation of smaller holes so that high-density recording is attained by using a hydrophilic material which is vigorously thermally decomposed by the temp. lower than the m.p. of a recording thin film as an underlying film. CONSTITUTION:The hydrophilic high-polymer material which is vigorously thermally decomposed by the temp. lower than the m.p. of the recording film 4 is used as the underlying film 3. Namely, material which is vigorously thermally decomposed by the temp. lower than the m.p. of the recording film 4 and has a hydrophilic property is used as the underlying film 3, by which the sure and easy formation of the underlying film 3 onto a resin substrate 1 or a glass substrate 2 with a UV curing resin is enabled. The recording power is lowered in this way and the smaller holes 6 are surely formed. The high-density recording is thus possible.
