Self curing material for sealing, jointing and bonding purposes is prepd. by adding a mixt. (I) of hydrophilic binder and a water-insoluble liquid plasticiser to an aqs. dispersion of a complex, high boiling mixt. (II) of bitumen, tar, pitch or similar org. fossil material, contg. a high percentage of disperse phase, (II) being dissolved and plasticised by (I). Ready for immediate use. Curing time and properties can be controlled by suitably varying the components. Excellent resistance to ageing. Low cost.
