Railway points operating system - uses lever recessed in rest position and activating track shifting rocker mechanism

The railway points use a counterweight or a rocker with a reversible spring system operated by the vehicle. A pivoting (22) lever acts on an intermediate element (17, 20) which is displaced to a position where it operates a rocker system (5). The rocker system in turn manoeuvres the tracks via a shaft (11). The intermediate element is retracted by a return spring (27) from the rocker cam (6, 7) when the lever is in a horizontal rest position. The lever is recessed when at rest. It may operate the points in alternate senses each time it moves.
