The electronic stethoscope allows heart and lung action to be listened to, using a moving-coil electro-dynamic detector working under pressure so as to detect very low frequencies. The frequencies can range from 10 to 4000 Hz, and the cardiac rhythm can be indicated by electro-luminescent diodes or liquid crystals. The heart noises can be recorded on magnetic tape or graph paper, indicating sinusoidal curves, sawtooth sections or impulses. The stethoscope can be monobloc, or in two units, with a separate detector, completely self-contained and portable. It can be entirely composed of electronic components and semiconductors with integrated circuits.
