<p>The polyphase clamp connector, for connecting three-core cables end-on, consists of a three-armed cross formed by three segments of a circle attached movably to a central piece and sandwiching the cable's conductors between them. Each segment has a curved recess in its sides to accommodate cutting edges (5-10) that bite into the conductors. One segment is divided into two (3, 4) and has a clamping bolt (25) between them. Turning the bolt one way draws the sub-segments together; turning it the other way drives the sub-segments apart thereby transmitting a compressive clamping force all round the cross.</p> |
