The control rod elastic guide bearing has an external face against the bearing housing surface and an internal one supporting the rod. a distorting castellated bush (12) and the faces are in one pice, the outer face comprising a series of spherical sectins (13a) in contact with the bearing housing, and running axially in the direction of movement of the rod. The sections are joined to each other by notched portions (13b) allowing radial distortion of the bush on fitting in the housing, while resisting axial movement when moved off the centre line. The bearing is particulary for the rack of a motor vehicle steering gear.
