1303573 Turbine casings WESTINGHOUSE ELECTRIC CORP 10 May 1971 [26 June 1970] 13977/71 Heading FIT A rotary bladed machine, e.g. a gas turbine, comprises a tubular inner casing 34 supported within an outer casing 26 by means of eccentric bushing assemblies 52 adjustably supported in apertures in outer casing 26 and extending into slots 54 in inner casing 34. During assembly of the turbine the lower outer casing half 26b is axially aligned with a taut wire or laser beam representing the rotor axis R-R<SP>1</SP>. The lower inner casing half 34b is then fitted with stator blades and lowered into position to rest on jack screws 61, after which the upper inner casing half is fitted. Jack screws 61 are then adjusted to align inner casing 34 with axis R-R<SP>1</SP> before bushing assemblies 52 are inserted. Each assembly 52 comprises a rod 58 freely mounted in an eccentric opening in bush 56 so that rotation of the latter adjusts the position of the rod to enable key 59 thereon to engage slot 54 in inner casing 34. Each rod 58 is then welded to respective bush 56 and the latter secured to outer casing 26. Further jack screws 63 are then adjusted to cause levers 64 to pivot and urge annular shoulder 69 on casing 34 into sealing engagement with flange 71 on casing 26. Thereafter jack screws 61, 63 are removed. The disassembly sequence of the casings is also described. |
