Garment insulation mfr. - incorporating air chambers between inner and outer layers to increase fabric life and improve waterproof effect

A flexible insulating material, partic. for anoraks and other garments is mfd. composed of a number of layers. The layers are of an outer permeable woven fabric, a woven lining and an intermediate layer formed from a wadding with a needled metal foil. Two air chambers are located between the intermediate layer and the outer fabric. The air chambers are sepd. by an insert of a fibrous non-woven material. The metal foil of the intermediate layer is placed on the wadding on the side facing the non-woven and the lining of the outer fabric. The provision of the air chambers increases the thermal reflection of the insulating layer and also prevents the insulating layer from becoming wet when worn in rain, so that distortions and abrasion are not experienced and increase the fabric life.
