<p>The plates are given a modified rim profile incorporating a downwards pointing wedge cross section shoulder, the edge of which does not carry any glazing material. This is supported on a downwards pointing truncated cone section refractory ring, which is of sufficient width to accommodate the shrinkage occuring during the firing operation. The all round support ensures that the plate is adequately supported and does not warp during firing. This is particularly important when quick firing cycles are employed.</p> |
