<p>The pitch of the axial-flow fan blades is infinitely variable, and they are pivot-mounted in the hub, which has an adjuster member coaxial to it and rotating with it. Connected to this member are components such as chains or ropes transmitting a force in one direction only. Each of them is connected to and passed round the corresponding blade pivot trunnion, so that sliding movement of the member causes the blades to turn. Each blade can be mounted in two bearings, one outside the other, in the radial direction, the chain or rope being attached between the outermost bearing and the blade proper.</p> |
