The suspended ceiling comprises spaced parallel shaped carried units hung from the main ceiling and sheet metal ceiling panels spanning the intervening spaces. These have horizontal seating bent sections at their edges, which are otherwise separated from the carrier units. There are protrusions (6) extending along the sides of the carrier units (1). The gaps between the carriers and the panels' fixtures edges are bridges by upwards-projecting resilient tongues (14) on the edges, with their ends (15) against these protrusions or sited underneath them. The tongues may be made in one piece with the ceiling panels (2), being pressed out from the sidewalls (11); or they may be separately produced elements attached to the panels. The fixing media form an integral part of the panels, automatically effecting correctly aligned assembly.
