Continuous delivery of hot aggressive fluids - uses sealing liquid arranged to produce temperature drop to safe level

Continuous delivery system for hot aggressive fluids has a layout to protect the operating parts, such as valves, pump, etc. against the corrosive effects of the fluids handled. The system consists of valve head (1) containing suction valve (2) and discharge valve (3). The head is connected by pipe (4) to pump (6). The entire assembly is made of quartz which is corrosion resistant against concentrated sulphuric acid up to a temperature of 320 deg.C. If the flunger (5) and housing (6) are made of a chrome nickel molybdenum alloy the temperature of the fluid in contact with these parts should be below 40 degrees. Other materials permit higher temperatures, but no known metal would resist to concentrated sulphuric acid of 320 deg.C. With a connecting pipe (4) of one meter length and a diameter of 20 mm a temp of only 35 deg.C was reached at the plunger.
