<p>An appts. for sterilising fluids by UV radiation and the O3 produced, as described in the parent patent, comprises at least one sterilising burner in a radiation chamber, which has an envelope of material transparent to UV radiation placed so as to enclose it, and form a flow passage through which a gas contg. O2 is blown and collected in a reaction vessel. The radiation penetrates the envelope and acts upon the fluid flowing between the envelope and the inner wall of the radiation chamber, and on to the reaction vessel. According to this addn. the ozonised gas leaving the flow passage between the envelope and the burner, is fed back into the fluid passing between the envelope and the inner wall of the chamber. There is a three-way valve provided by which the ozonised gas can be recycled through the flow passage inside the envelope. Equipment is fitted to set up a spiral flow in the fluid passing through the radiation chamber, and the gas is cooled before being admitted. Arrangement eliminates the cost of the storage-reaction vessel, and increases the efficiency of the appts. whilst reducing its cost. The ozonisation of the gas is intensified.</p> |
