An overload safety device is for use with mechanical presses which operate using hydraulic cushions etc. A pneumatic piston (22) is provided for each valve piston (21). An outlet valve (18) is separate from the valve piston (21) but controlled by it for each hydraulic cushion. The pre-control pressure is provided by means of pressure oil which flows down the common supply pipeline (15). The pre-control space of the system is attached to the other side attachment (38) on the supply pipeline (15).
