<p>The scoring display for a bowling alley lane uses at least one drum (4) which rotates about a vertical axis (2) and which carries the numbers 0-9 around its peripheral surface. The drum is indexed by a mechanical ratchet system (10, 16, 20, 22, 24) and an apertured mask is positioned in front of the drum (4) so that only one of the numbers around the surface of the drum (4) is visible. The numbers may be in a contrasting colour to the background surface of the drum, or the latter may be a hollow cylinder from which the numbers are stamped out, with a light source within the cylinder illuminating the numbers which are covered by a transparent foil. Several drums (4) may be positioned adjacent one another in a common housing, the front face of which forms the apertured screen for all the number drums.</p> |
