Port control for four stroke IC engine - has cylinder head with apertured rotary valve controlling inlet and exhaust ports

The valve is intended for controlling inlet and exhaust of a four-stroke combustion engine. It consits of a rotary element provided with an orifice arranged to open the inlet or exhaust port in the cylinder head as it rotates past them. The rotary element may be a flat disc or may have a tubular, conical, hemispherical or any other suitable shape. It is pref. provided with teeth on its outer periphery meshing with a pinion on a shaft driving the element at half the engine speed.
