1475028 Unsaturated trans-epoxy alcohol ROUSSEL UCLAF 17 Sept 1975 [18 Sept 1974] 15638/76 Divided out of 1475027 Heading C2C The novel hydroxy compounds of formula wherein m represents 3, 4 or 5, in particular trans-4,5-epoxy-2-decynol, are prepared by reacting a compound with an alkaline agents such as an alkali metal alcoholate, amide or hydride, e.g. potassium tertiary butylate. The latter compound is in turn prepared from an aldehyde by reacting with a metallic derivative of the acetylenic function of propargyl alcohol. Organo magnesium, lithium, sodium or potassium compounds may be the metallic derivatives.
