<p>1490504 Electrical terminal AMP Inc 31 March 1976 [28 April 1975] 12913/76 Heading H2E In an electrical terminal of the kind which has a wire connecting portion 1 (Fig. 1) having plates 3, 4 with slots 5, 6 for receiving an insulated wire 9, the edges 10 or 11 of at least one slot penetrating the insulation 12 of the wire 9 and contacting the core 13, retaining fingers such as 14, 15 are provided for retaining cable 9 in the slots (Fig. 4). Fingers 14 are longer than fingers 15 so that the cable is bent as shown in Fig. 5 to prevent movement along the axis of the wire 9. The terminal is stamped from a single sheet of metal (Fig. 2, not shown). In a modification only two fingers 21, 22 are provided as shown in Fig. 7. Fingers 14, 15 or 21, 22 can extend from the outer edges of and be turned in underneath the members 7, 8 joining the two plates 3, 4 (Fig. 8, not shown). In an alternative way of inserting the wire in the terminal of Fig. 1 (Fig. 10, not shown) the wire is inserted so that it is located beneath the ends 19 of the shorter fingers 15 only, the longer fingers 14 bending the wire sideways. The terminal may be made from brass or beryllium copper.</p> |
