Ascorbic acid medicaments for external use - as nasal decongestants and to promote resistance to infection

Medicaments for external use comprise mixts. of >=3 (pref. 5-20) pts. wt. of ascorbic acid (I) with 100 pts. wt. of a neutral carrier. The carrier can be H2O and/or an ointment base. The medicaments can be used to relieve nasal congestion and to treat burns and other wounds. They can also be used as suppositories to reinforce the natural antibacterial action of the gut. In an example, a mixt. of 20 parts (I) and 100 parts H2O was administered (0.5 ml) as nasal drops to a patient suffering from nasal congestion. The treatment relieved the congestion and suppressed nasal irritation.
