A continuous flame-free gasification process for dust or fine particles, using steam and/or CO2 with direct external heating of the combustion chamber to 60-1000 degrees C and an operating pressure up to 90 atm., is effected in thin metal tubes, pref. of diam. 80 mm, with turbulent flow. The heat necessary for the endothermic reaction flows radially inwards from the tube wall via relatively large heat transfer surfaces. Specif., a ratio of gasification medium/fuel of 2-5 Nm3/Kg is used. |
